Moorfoot Runners

Supporting Runners in Peeblesshire

Welcome to the Moorfoot Runners' website. We are a Peeblesshire based running club formed in 2001 with the intention to bring runners of all ages and abilities in the Peeblesshire area together.

Since the inauguration of the club in 2001, the club has gone from strength to strength. The distinctive red and blue Moorfoot Runners' vests can be seen at most running events across the Borders, East of Scotland and further afield throughout the year,  but not all members are regular racers and there is no obligation to race. If you just want a social training environment - you are still welcome.

Training

For Seniors training takes place every Tuesday night, meeting at 6.30pm at Kingsmeadows Car Park in Peebles. Everyone is welcome and feel free just to turn up whichever weeks, but if you want to ask any questions then just contact Colin Williams.

The sessions are based on standard interval training that would fit in into a typical 10k runner / endurance training programme.  A typical session consists of 10-15mins warm up, then a set 3 to 5 intervals x 3 - 6 min intervals at running hard, but not flat out, with rest in between of about half the effort time and regrouping after each one, followed by a decent warm down. The efforts will always be done on time, rather than distance, to accommodate all speeds and everyone gets equal rest. The whole session takes about an hour and by mixing up the routes and using hills some weeks for variety.

For information on junior training check out the Junior Guidance section on the club website

First Tuesday Drink (after training)

We go for drink in the pub on the first Tuesday night of the month straight after training. Meet in the Bridge Inn (the Trust), Peebles at 7.45pm. You are welcome to come along to that regardless of if you went to training or not!
